MVC provides a co-ordinated program, including related specialists, to assist athletes with their overall development and to support them achieving the most they can  from their swimming.

 

Helen Walker


Sports Physiotherapist Helen Walker has over 20 years experience, and a special interest in, the treatment of swimming related injuries. Helen is a provider to the VIS swimming program and has worked with Australian Swimming for many years. Helen was the physiotherapist for the Australian Swimming Team at the Montreal World Championships (2005) and the Melbourne Commonwealth games (2006). In 2010, Helen completed her PhD investigating risk factors for competitive swimming shoulder injuries.

 

Andrew Cameron


Andrew graduated from the University of Melbourne’s Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2011Since graduating, Andrew has completed a dry needling course as well as working in aged care and with the AFL Umpires Association where he has had to treat a variety of complex sporting injuries. Andrew conducted musculoskeletal screenings of Melbourne Vicentre’s swimmers in 2012 alongside Helen Walker. With 10years of national level swimming experience, including a bronze medal at the 2012 Australian Short Course Championships, Andrew has extensive knowledge of swimming biomechanics. Andrew has a strong passion for working with and treating athletes and he aims to further his studies by completing a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy in the near future.
