2014 Presentation Evening

Thank you to Fiona Hutton and Annika Macvean who with their hard working team put together a wonderful event. The venue was perfect, the food plentiful and in testament to their planning the night ran very smoothly. MC Alex Hirschauer kept us entertained but as Craig Jackson pointed out we should be a little concerned that Alex was talking to himself - and even more so that he was also answering.

Past met the present and swimmers and families were joined by three of MVC's celebrated life members Linley Frame, Daniel Kowalski and Nicole Livingstone OAM. Linley interviewed Daniel who, with touches of humour, provided insight into his swimming experience and the obstacles he overcome on his way to becoming a member of the Australian Team and representing his country at the Olympic Games.

.

Linley and Jack Gerrard were named as Club Captains for the coming year, they will be supported by Vice Captains Hayley Baker and Mat Myers. The audience groaned collectively when Jack used his speech to share the world's worst swimming joke:

Why did the vegetarians stop swimming?  They didn't like meets!

MVC thanks a number of special guests who attended the celebration:

Awards were presented to swimmers across all squads and ages and thanks to donations from generous supporters there were plenty of prizes handed out throughout the night as well. Along with performance based and coaches awards MVC acknowledges contribution to the wider swimming community. Honoured with the Chairman's Award for her contribution during 2013/14 was Veronica Lyttle

Congratulations to all our worthy 2014 Award Winners:
